ring a bell and I'll salivate
I've been involved in a discussion thread in the comments section of an entry on Wil Wheaton's (Stand By Me, Star Trek: TNG) website. The subject, loosely stated, is about violence in video games. If you're interested at all, you can check it out here.

just to add...

good arguments, Dave. I 100% agree with your points stated. I am not a *gamer,* nor is Chuck which hopefully is a good indication that neither of our children will get involved at a young age since internet in our house is and will be controlled by us, the parents. I do think that violent games and television influence young children in negative ways. Children are innocent until corrupted by visions and ideas they are exposed to. Obviously it's impossible and a dis-service to children to completely shelter them from the real world but moderation and good communication is key to educating them into knowing right from wrong.
That said, each child is an individual. Parenting and instilling morals and values can be different for each family depending on who/what they have to work with. With our girls, we want them to know what's out there and keep the communication open. This way, trust works both ways and hopefully (fingers crossed) we can expect questions rather than self experimenting when it comes to sex, drugs, violence (but not ROCK AND ROLL!) LOL I dunno...I'm not an expert in law or justice, I'm just a parent of two precious little girls.
Wait a minute...didn't I buy you grand theft auto at some point in the last couple of years?...oops.
